EcoVerde Organics has slowly built a strong business around organic composting at its site in Genesee County.
The company turns food scraps destined for the landfill into compost which is sold at a growing network of retail partners. EcoVerde sold all of the compost it made in 2025 and expects to hit its permitted limit in 2026.
EcoVerde is the only NYS Department of Environmental Conservation-approved site of its size. The company keeps enormous amounts of food waste out of the landfill, benefits the local supply chain and its fulltime workforce is more than 50% female.
